Nina Dobrev was born in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, on January 9, 1989. Her parents moved to Toronto, Canada when she was two years old.
Her mother is an artist and her father is working in IT. She has an older brother who is engineer.
Nina attended the Wexford Collegiate School for the Arts in Scarborough, after graduating she attended Ryerson University. While attending Ryerson she majored in Sociology, she dropped out in 2008 to pursue acting.
Training Nina attended the Wexford Collegiate School for the Arts in Scarborough, in Ontario. From the start Nina showed interest in acting, dance, gymnastics, music and theater.
Her acting talent has been discovered in Dean Armstrong Acting School, which leaded her to being discovered by many talent agencies.
She began working on commercials and as a model. Shortly after that she got some roles in the movies "Fugitive Pierce", "Away from Her" and "Never Cry Werewolf".
Her biggest role was in the series "Degrassi: The Next Generation". She also got a big role in MTV movie "The America Mall".
Now she is the main character in the CW's series "The Vampire Diaries" as Elena.
